Vintage needlework picture depicting George Washington's Virginia home, Mount Vernon. This was made from a kit in the 1930s, a decade that saw many tributes to Washington at the bicentennial of his birth. Appears to be cotton worked on a linen ground.

When I bought this, it was mounted on cardboard (full of acid, which leads to discoloration). I removed the cardboard and replaced it with acid free foam core board.

Measures: 18 1/8 x 13 1/2 inches. 1930s.

Overall condition is good, with overall discoloration and yellowing to the ground cloth and threads (the background is definitely not white). Small area of staining in upper right quadrant. A few loos stitches at center, with wear to the outer border stitches along the perimeter of the work.
