Vintage Dansk Toke Flatware - Service for 4 - Stainless Steel Bamboo

Sale Price:$1,200.00 Original Price:$1,800.00

Dansk bamboo-handled stainless steel flatware service for four in the Toke pattern, designed by Jens Quistgaard in the late 1950s. The production of this pattern was limited to just a few years (probably 1959-60 or so) and was complemented by the 'Cane' line of bowls and trays that used bamboo and teak. Made in Denmark, circa 1960.

This is a small set, but just the right size if you are starting to collect Dansk flatware. Each five-piece place setting comprises a dinner knife, dinner fork, salad/luncheon fork, tablespoon and teaspoon. There are 20 pieces total. All pieces are marked Dansk Designs Denmark with the four ducks mark, indicating earlier manufacture.

See my blog post on Dansk's Fjord and other flatware here:

Overall condition is good, but the bamboo handles have some splits, which was typical of all of Dansk's bamboo pieces (this is probably part of the reason they were made for so short a time). The forks seem to have the most wear to the handles--the detail images make the splits look really bad, it's not quite so noticeable when you have the piece in hand. Minor wear to the stainless steel. Natural variation in the color of the bamboo handles. If you would like additional images or info, please let me know!

This flatware is NOT safe for use in dishwashers. I recommend rubbing the wood handles with a food-safe oil once or twice a year to keep them in top form.
