Dansk Mutenye Viking Bowl by Jens Quistgaard - Rare Woods

$0.00

Round staved mutenye bowl with two handles reminiscent of the horns on a Viking helmet, designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk. This was part of the Rare Woods line, model 1636, made in Denmark, circa 1960. Includes original salad servers.

Measures 14 1/4 inches high, 13 1/2 inches wide, 11 1/2 inches deep. Branded mark on underside. The last image shows a teak viking bowl by Dansk for size comparison--this version is much larger.

Overall condition is good, but not perfect. Mutenye pieces from the Rare Woods line seem to have had issues with the adhesive that held the staves together--it appears the bottom came out of this piece and some of the vertical pieces separated. There is evidence of reglueing, with some small chips, and a larger one at the tip of one of the handles. The serving pieces also show signs of use, with some chips at the edges of the bowls.
