Vintage Dansk Fjord Flatware Service for 6, Made in Germany, 1960s with original plastic sleeves

$2,150.00

Dansk teak-handled stainless steel flatware in the Fjord pattern, designed by Jens Quistgaard in 1954. A mid-century classic, this pattern is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Early production made in Germany, 1960s.

The set comprises:

6 dinner knives

6 dinner forks

6 salad/luncheon forks

6 tablespoons

6 teaspoons

6 iced teaspoons

There are 36 pieces total. All pieces are marked Dansk Designs Germany, nearly all retain their original plastic sleeves.

This set had only two tablespoons, so I married in an additional four of similar age, quality, and condition. Only one of the tablespoons has its plastic sleeve.

See my blog post on Dansk's Fjord and other flatware here:

Overall condition is good—the set shows few signs of use. Some minor wear to the stainless steel, with a couple tiny rust spots on the stainless. Natural variation in the color and figure of the teak handles. One knife has a few white spots on the wood handle. All plugs are present, with little wear. There is no splitting or losses to the teak, and the joins are tight and secure. The plastic sleeves are open (except one or two)

If you would like additional images or info, please let me know--I've handled a lot of Dansk and I am very picky about condition!

This flatware is NOT safe for use in dishwashers. I recommend rubbing the wood handles with a food-safe oil once or twice a year to keep them in top form.
