Vintage Beacon Cotton Camp Blanket -- Nomad Pattern Brown Cream Tan Plaid 1930s

$0.00

Great for keeping warm on a chilly night, camp blankets from the 1920s through ‘50s are a wonderful decorative touch in your home.  Made in wool, cotton and synthetics by companies such as Beacon and Esmond, these blankets were generally associated with rustic living in cabins--hence the name ‘camp’ blanket.  The pattern is reversible, which you can best see in the detail of the border in the first images.

There is no label that indicates fiber content or maker, but this is the Nomad 4 pattern made by Beacon and offered in their 1931 catalogue. All cotton, very soft, with a slightly felted finish like flannel.  This is likely the original satin binding--Beacon used four rows of stitching.

Measures approximately 80 x 70 inches.

Overall condition is good.  Minor overall wear, but no stains or holes.  Minor fraying at the satin binding.  The blanket retains a good amount of its nap and thickness.   I have washed this blanket, and recommend cold water, gentle detergent, gentle cycle and line drying for future laundering.
