Piero Fornasetti Wastepaper Basket - Top Hat Trash Can

$0.00

Hard to find wastepaper basket in the form of a top hat by Italian designer Piero Fornasetti, made of hand-painted and lithographically-printed aluminum. Designed in the 1960s, this piece likely dates to the 1980s.

Measures 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm) high, 13 inches (33 cm) wide; 10 3/4 inches (27.3 cm) deep. Printed marks on brass buckle.

This design can be found on page 459 of Fornasetti: The Complete Universe.

Provenance: Norton and Diana Blumenthal, textile and wallcovering designers who were friends of Piero Fornasetti and exclusively imported his designs to the US in the 1980s.

Overall condition is very good, with minor wear to the lacquered surface, with some craquelure in the red areas. There are a few tiny losses along the bottom edge. Interior shows a little dirt and wear.
