Pair of Jane and Gordon Martz Incised Stoneware Table Lamps, circa 1957

$6,800.00

Pair of mid-century ceramic table lamps designed by Jane and Gordon Martz for Marshall Studios of Indiana. Each sectioned stoneware body has a matte off-white glaze with hand-incised lines. Walnut base and neck. Original harps and turned wood finials are included.

The lamps are unsigned, but both have the UL Marshall Studios label on the felt pad on the underside. This model is listed in a 1957 catalogue as M85-51-1 in matte white.

These lamps have original wiring—they should be professionally rewired before use. No shades.

Overall height to top of finial is about 34 inches high; 20.5 inches high to top of wood neck; 7.5 inches diameter across the base.

Overall condition of the bases is good, with no chips or cracks. There are some glaze pops, and minor nicks to the glaze at the incised lines, which was most likely done in production. Minor marks to wood bases. The brown felt is replaced on the underside of one of the lamps.
