Set of Six Minton Green Cockatrice Soup Plate, circa 1900

$0.00

Set of six soup plates by Minton in the Cockatrice pattern, with a bird at the center and green border with floral reserves. Each shallow bowl has a scalloped rim and is transfer printed with hand painted enameled details. Made in England around 1900, the Cockatrice pattern was one of Minton's most popular and was produced for more than a century in numerous colorways.

Each measures 9 7/8 inches diameter. Printed, impressed and painted marks on reverse.

Overall condition of the set is good. Light crazing visible throughout, with minor wear to the handpainted details, particularly the yellow rim. One plate has a loss to the glaze at the rim at about 2 o'clock and another tiny loss at 10 o'clock—see last detail image. Otherwise, no chips, cracks or repairs.
