Jean Gillon Jacaranda Tobacco Jar - Wood Art Humidor Circa 1965 - Brazilian

$0.00

Tobacco jar designed by Brazilian designer Jean Gillon (1919-2007). Made for Gillon's Wood Art line of goods, the jar is formed of staved jacaranda, an exotic hardwood. The pin pulls out and the lid lifts off. The lid and bottom of the jar are lined with cork and the lid is fitted with a 'vaporette' which could be filled with distilled water to control the humidity inside the jar.

Measures 5 1/2 inches high, 5 7/8 inches diameter. Label on underside of jar.

Overall good condition, with minor surface wear. The metal clamp that holds the vaporette inside the jar has broken away from the cork liner and has been reglued, but the connection is tenuous and it will likely pop off again. Interior smells like pipe tobacco.
