Hannah and Morrison Aluminum Sofa for Knoll - Sling Three-Seat Mid Century Modern - 1970s

$0.00

Open arm three-seat sofa designed by Bruce Hannah and Andrew Morrison for Knoll in 1971. The design team worked together at Knoll throughout the 1970s and won numerous design awards.

Like Marc Newson's Lockheed Lounge, the aluminum pieces designed by Hannah and Morrison in 1971 were inspired by a mode of transportation, specifically, sailboats and the way sails slot into a channel in the mast. These chairs are demountable and easily taken apart with an allen wrench--the aluminum side panels release the center sling, where the upholstery slides into a channel in the metal bar.

Measures 27 5/8 inches high, 15 3/4 inches seat height, 68 1/2 inches wide, about 28 3/4 inches deep.

Overall condition is good. There is some wear to the aluminum frames, with minor dents, scratches and discoloration. The finish could be buffed to a high shine by a profession metal polisher. The purple microsuede upholstery is not original and shows some wear.
