Dansk Wenge Cutting Board - Rare Woods End Grain Cheese Board Serving Tray

$445.00

Large circular cutting board and serving tray designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk, made in wenge (an African hardwood) for the Rare Woods line produced in the early 1960s. The staved end-grain center section (end-grain is hard, durable and ideal for cutting, like butcher block) is surrounded by a slightly dished outer area. This makes it great for workaday chopping as well as for use as a cheese board when entertaining.

Measures about 15 1/4 inches diameter overall, the center section is about 7 inches diameter. Stamped on edge DANSK DESIGNS DENMARK JHQ, made in Denmark, early 1960s.

Overall condition is good, with some knife marks on the cutting surface and a couple tiny chips along the grain out of the inner edge.

Recommended care: wash with gentle soap and water (don't soak), rub with food safe oil about once a year to keep teak in good shape.
