Set of Six Dansk Fjord Butter Spreaders, circa 1960

$345.00

Set of six Dansk teak-handled stainless steel butter spreaders in the Fjord pattern, designed by Jens Quistgaard in 1954. A mid-century classic, this pattern is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Made in Germany, circa 1960.

All pieces are marked Dansk Designs Germany with the four ducks mark, five with the earlier mark from the 1950s, the sixth with a later 1960s mark.

See my blog post on Dansk's Fjord and how to care for it here:

Overall condition is very good, with minimal wear to the stainless steel. The join at each handle is secure. One of the wood handles has a light scratch—this can likely be sanded and oiled to minimize its appearance. All of the plugs at the end of the handles are present and in good shape.

This flatware is NOT safe for use in dishwashers. I recommend rubbing the wood handles with a food-safe oil once or twice a year to keep them in top form.
