Art Nouveau Gilt Metal Picture Frame with Bison and Flowers - Art Metal Works A.M.W.

Art Nouveau oval picture frame by Art Metal Works of Newark, New Jersey, 1900-1910. The frame stands on two feet, one set with a bison, one side of the frame decorated with flowers. The gold finish is 'guaranteed 24kt gold plate'. Has folding stand at back, oval opening for photo is about 6 3/4 x 4 inches (no glass).

Art Metal Works was founded in 1898 and made small decorative goods; the firm went on on to become Ronson, the noted manufacturer of lighters.

Measures about 10 inches high, 6 1/2 inches wide, 1 3/4 inches deep. Stamped mark on backplate.

Overall condition is good. There is no glass in the frame. Some spots and tarnishing to the gilt finish, with other minor wear.
