Antique Turned Wood Dough Bowl

$0.00

Large turned hardwood dough bowl with cut band on the exterior near the rim. The wood has aged and shrunk over time, causing distinctive unevenness in the rim and overall shape. The interior is worn and shows tool marks; the exterior has uneven patination from use. There is a small hole drilled though the wood near the rim so that a piece of twine could be tied through it for easy hanging.

The bowl measures about 4 inches high, 14 inches wide, 15 inches deep. Difficult to date precisely because this type of bowl was made the same way over a long period of time, likely circa 1900.

Overall condition is good, with wear commensurate with age and use. No checking to the wood; a few minor losses along the grain at the edge of the rim.
