Vintage Wool Blanket - United States Line Ocean Liner 1950s

$0.00

Pink and gray plaid wool lap blanket made by Horner Woolen Mills of Michigan for the United States Lines. Called a 'steamer rug', this blanket presumably would have been used for warmth in deck chairs on ocean liners such as the SS United States, launched in 1952, which was the largest liner at the time.

This blanket is all wool, and reversible. The fabric is felted, so it is extra thick and warm.

Measures about 60 x 48 inches, plus the fringe.

Overall condition of the blanket is good, with a few very faint stains visible on the gray side. A couple bits of fringe are stretched out and one is tied in a knot. The blanket has been laundered--I used Woolite and the delicate cycle in my washer, and laid flat to dry.
